When coincidences like this happen it is the worst feeling of terror you will ever get in your life.
An example; I was playing Silent Hill: Homecoming. Overall, not all that scary. A bit freaky at times but... meh. HOWEVER, there's a certain part of the game that got me so hard because of a coincidence. I was sat in the center of the room. Lights off and headphones on, as you do for true spoopage. I reached a dead-ended hallway with a teadybear sitting at the end, in the center. Of course I HAVE to approach the spooky bear, because. This bear whispers into my ears, "Behind you." woop. But then my mother places her hand on my shoulder to get my attention and I swear my soul left my body. I screamed so loud and leapt back so far off my seat that my controller flew across the room and ejected the batteries from the force of wall impact.
Mom felt bad but we both had a good laugh afterwords.

I was gonna mention watching “The Ring” and then going to sleep with an old CRT TV in my bedroom that would randomly display static (Composite -> RF adapter that had a loose connection), but damn, I think I would have died if I had experienced that.
