Prez brings up a good point. People are afraid of change and upsetting situations they are comfortable in. That's why so many of these manga use the "I'm happy as things are now and don't want to lose it" trope. Which, while accurate, is also incredibly annoying because as fiction you can point at it and be like "No you obviously aren't." Like look back at some shit you never pursued from 10 years ago and you'll definitely be like "Dammit, I am such an idiot, why didn't I do anything"
