Nah, take out the swearwords and Yautja's main point is that the manga is badly written, heavily stereotypes both genders, and then hits you with a predictable backstory to try cynically get sympathy. These are valid enough criticisms, not 'emotional and therefore baseless'.
I can't speak for him but I have no problem with complex villains that have backstories that explain their path. I read plenty of media, manga or otherwise, with these villains. Outside of the most shallow of plots, all villains should have some dimension to them. The criticism is that in this manga with this antagonist, the abuse backstory was predictable and added no actual value to the plot. From the start, this manga has tried to be a mature take of serious themes. The tragic backstory of the villain was a given from the start.

Lo and behold, someone who can actually read and think. It's seems the two are usually mutually exclusive on this website. I appreciate and am impressed with how accurately you caught all that. You've said pretty much every thought I had. The only things I'd add, to spite this manga further, is that the "plot" of this manga is undeserving of the word and add the words "and fails" after tries. All that said, your words are wasted on them. What they seem to believe they have gleaned from my original comment and their responses are testament to that.

@boag yes, but my problem is with the author, she put that nurse in there for a reason, to deliver a message... and all she said was that women are weak and their only strength is being able to take a beating without complaining, which is nonsense on a new level:

Lets assume that women are weak, but then even if that were true that doesn't means they should be abused, that's like saying that kicking babies is natural because they can't defend themselves and that the strong babies are the ones that will stop crying if you kick them enough.

@nanze i dont recall anyone saying the writing is spectacular or anything, most of the argument is about giving a character backstory. Whether the backstory is good or bad writing doesn't mean it is by any means trying to redeem him and trying to make us like him. I don't think anyone in the comment even thinks he is a good person.
