@chiruru Well, not exactly the same, but gorillas can learn sign language and posses comparable IQ. I'd say things won't change from what they are now.
@greatninja3 Assimilation through interbreeding, while not the biggest cause for their extinction, occurred more notably in asia than elsewhere.
So, she's probably going to end up a rival for the other girls.
True, but this wasn't really known until recently. Neanderthal extinction also can't be exclusively explained by interbreeding with modern humans, as there were clearly other factors in play that resulted in their rapid population decline.
For anyone interested in learning more about Neanderthals, Paabo's book on his team's journey working with their DNA is fantastic. I'd highly recommend it.
Poor Hitomi she's been far too long in that school that she even forgot that she is human or...maybe she is an animal or other "human" evolutionary stage and we don't suspect a thing.
Ilurk - Yep, it could be argued that Neanderthals haven't entirely disappeared, only the pure bloods are gone. On a related note, pure humans are an endangered breed exclusive to Africa south of the Congo river.
Seems Jin is on track to create werewolves though.
MesaOracle - Or there was a really extensive level of genetic engineering in the past to splice animal DNA into Humanity to make all the animal people, leaving normal humans are a rarity.
