Shoot thats a good point... at some point I fell into the rhythm of tending to assume they might be some kind of custom made life form, but I forgot just how little we really know about the setting. And that's what I'm thinking of. Just now we *also* know the 'adult' shadows think of Emilyko as 'distinct' somehow. Which is why I wonder if Kate made her desire and intention clear?

But we'll see... or not. I don't think answers will come fast or even clearly in this series, which I quite enjoy.
