This kind of work is so normalized there even in the fucking anime and manga they just treat it like a normal thing. Like "it can't be helped" or some shit.

Either she is actually recognized by the higher-ups and considered the asset to go to for this kind of request when its an emergency.
Or that higher-up is a bad boss.
@PlanOfInaction odds are said boss can't help with the task at hand, and is discouraged of staying overtime for moral support when his overtime pay is likely quite high. Hopefully he did ensure some benefits out-of-frame tho, such as food deliveries/accepting receipts of her eating out, and maybe even some kind of apology-benefit (would be sleazy of him to invite her to dinner despite it being the go-to thing bosses apologizes with in manga, but he can surely figure out _something_ she desires that they can put on company-expense).
He also probably had to OK the other girls overtime too (even if her ability to help is questionable), so he probably cares enough.

It happens everywhere yeah, even in bigger companies... or have you all forget the term crunch ? we heard it a lot in game companies... I have a friend who suffers from this abuse too, he's the accountant of a company so if he's not there, they can't make deals so they need him to be in the company whenever they need him to be there for as long as they need him to be there.
