WRT the "it's 'gynoid' not 'android' " idea—that's not how English works. Regardless of any origin or etymology, "Android" is a word that caught on as a generic term for humanoid robot.

"Gynoid," by contrast, has only ever really been a word in works of science fiction that choose to use it.
