First of all, yeah, I dig this approach to handling the puns. It was less about the funny wordplay and more about Kanako being an adorable dork anyway.

Second, dear lord Kanako is a terrible liar. She's just lucky that detective is being weird so her behavior can just be considered being weirded out.
