@Kanami-chan is it really a battle shounen? For what is worth the MC is, kind off, actively trying to get away from his situation/tragedy (Dead-toother's) with Chika at hand. At most, I would say Battle Seinen.

@Delen If you think about it the only reason any newcomer can fight and beat a veteran is basically plot armor that gives the mc extra luck or better stats for some kind of reason. And for obvious reasons they can just timeskip so the MC becomes more adept by training himself otherwise Chika dies
