Hirota is the typical guy who doesn't know what he has till it's lost. He was embarrassed to be seen with her when he got older and got his girl snatched even if she was being manipulated. In fact, that's what Miwako wanted to do was take away from him the very reason Hirota denied her in the beginning.

On some "I'll take what you hold dear for not being seduced by me" type of shit, sole reason as to why she chose him instead of Souichi

@Siquall agreed, somehow Souichi is a well build character, while our supposed to be main character, is just some dumb kid... At least for now, Souichi story is far more interesting than our MC.

@Rzaj no, miwako love turning 'human' into monster that's why she choose hirota. Shouichi can't do because at that point he already lose his humanity caused by all those tragedy in his life. That could explain why shouichi is stronger than hirota at the start because hirota still has his humanity and he still remember that he love chika.

miwako use love to manipulate both of them. chika is an embodiment of 'love' in this story. hirota's love for her is lost and all he feel is revenge, that's why he get stronger. while shouichi's love started to grow, bringing back his humanity and made him weaker.
