I know this was just made to be a whimsical one shot but there's a part of me that really wants them to provide some background to that "must be in a relationship" rule. It just feels very contrived. Like you could see if there was a population issue maybe or if it was put as that the school is very lax towards relationships which makes them popular. However, having the actual rule where you can get expulsion warnings for not dating or having an unrequited love seems over the top.
On the other hand it would be fun if someone did a psychological drama where due to a population crisis, a domineering govenment is now trying to control even relationships by decreeing that all highschool aged people and up must be in a relationship resulting in people having to forge false relationships just to survive in society. That's right, I want to take a cutesy oneshot and send down a dark hole
