i would bet the lord is probably a demon in disguise, rather than he is working with a demon.
also they killed it, this is probable the one, he simple isn't taking human weak state too serious.
do you really think they could beat this thing? it can fly and all, i don't think they could. but maybe i am exaggerating how bad they are.
it is not looking promising tho for humanity future. the demons are really unlucky to had wait this much, so that MC could come back.
if they were a bit faster, they would've at least tasted success

@Liu if you consider the knowledge the MC has, it's highly unlikley that 'sentient' monsters exist outside of specific species. Some might show high intelligence, but so far only dragons and demons have been noted in having sentience. So you're probably not gonna get a Re:monster incident...also dungeons by prinicple are "see it kill it" mentality <.< they've been doing this the whole manga, not sure why only now you see it as something 'dangerous' to do.

Why would they replace the lord and not the king? Both would require switching a real person for a doppleganger since random non-biological son x is not going to inherit the title without a will.

@Liu : Keep in mind that monsters are created by magic energy directly, and not necessarily born. Plus non-dungeon monsters are a direct threat to civilian lives.

@Wreckmeister : Those are likely Tanuki monsters, Tanuki's having a large scrotum is a bit of a joke in japanese pop culture.
