I suppose it just makes the joke work better but somehow I feel worse.

Is the one-shot even the prequel, though?
I thought it was just supposed to be some kind of concept work or something, or something that inspired Shimeji, but isn't actually canon or related to Shimeji whatsoever.
(plus, the names don't match anyways, so I doubt they're related in any way, shape, or form).
