Shin no Nakama janai to Yuusha no Party wo Oidasareta node, Henkyou de Slow Life suru Koto ni shimashita - Vol. 3 Ch. 16

When you want to live happily with your waifu but randos keep getting in your way 😐

"I'll go back to the Thieves' guild to try to smooth things over with Big Hawk."
"Okay, give me a Persuasion Check, with Disadvantage."
"What? Why?"
"You tried to blackmail Lit and failed. You tried to intimidate Red and failed. The secret you were counting on as leverage is pretty much common knowledge to everyone. And you name-dropped the Thieves guild while trying to get Red not to kill you. You were told to be discreet."
"Fine...Crap. Both rolls came up Natural 1's."
"The afternoon of your audience with Big Hawk starts unpleasantly and gets worse..."

At first I thought Red was foolishly merciful toward a man who was trying to burn down his house, but I reckon Red actually anticipated this very ending.

Don't mess with orc mafia.

Before they give offer you cannot refuse, you will find your fingers bending in ways they should not be.

Why wouldn't they just exterminate the thief guild? What purpose do they even serve?

@ciera it is a thief guild so...probably nothing but a cliche third rate crime organization. It hasn’t been exterminated yet because of some dumb plot device that it is too powerful for the guild and only the MC can do it in later chapters to show off his OPness and prove himself as someone more than a guide....or something like that.
I think sometime is better just to play along with the writing than ask questions lol.

@ciera I mean, I know RPG's frequently have thieves guilds just out in the open for some reason but more canonically they're well hidden, like trying to eliminate an infestation of cockroaches or rats across an entire sewer system than a singular structure you're just going to burn down and kill everyone inside. Any remaining members are a liability.

@ciera

Because people with criminal classes continue to be born into this world. People are assigned the Thief job by their God, for whatever reason. The Thief Guild collects these poor souls up, organizes them, and keeps their activities in check. If the lower members go too crazy, it'll draw undue attention and that's bad for business, so the higher ups will force them into line.

Thinking back, Dill's very first encounter with Lit also had her break his fingers when he tried to hit on her in a tavern, so this is just everything coming back full circle.

@sirflimflam They are out in the open because people are litteraly born with their class in that world so you litteraly have a dude who's born with the blessing to be a thief by god so the guild is basicaly as valid as any other one technicaly.
