That's a cool analogy between The Grim Reaper and The Plague(The Black Death).
To be honest at first I thought the kid was already dead and just stayed alive as a zombie or some undead creature because of the wounds on his leg(Page 7).
This was a good oneshot.

Ende doesn't actually love his always-there-for-him father and that the Grim Reaper is trying to seek his own death from a young boy.

There's a huge question of why, but the story ends before we find out. I think it ended well. Questions abound, but it's nice.
