@Lilliwyt That is not a natural stream though. It is an artificial stream. It doesn't link to any natural water source so there is no fish and the owner has to restock the fishes.
And there are Rainbow trouts in natural lakes and streams in Japan. They are found all over Hokkaido. They were introduced to Japan in 1870s and have been taken over habitat of other fishes and aquatic creatures as an invasive species.

It’s actually funny how similar this chapter was to the one in yotsuba to, so many details were exactly the same. I’m left wondering if the Trout fishing experience in japan is always so similar, or if there was some direct inspiration
