i think i've heard that idiom used for women who are far too out of someone's reach or people who have resigned themselves to only watching their love interest from a far.

It's usually translated as the flower on the highest peak or more colloquially the "unobtainable flower".
 
I know I've read too much manga when I instantly knew what "takane no hana" means. It's a trope used so often in romance series...
 
@Crookshanks if i dont have any friends or anyone that really talks to me, I'd pretty much fall for the first girl to actually try and keep up with me. Well, thats what I think, atleast.
 
Japan has a problem of bosses and coworkers pressuring others to drink at parties as seen here, that leads to alcohol poisoning deaths.
Always know your limit and never let others make you drink more than that, or drinking any at all for that matter.
 
If I were to put it, its not that the others feared her. More like they try not to get involved with her in any ways... Or so I see the author tries to do.

I think on page 9: "It's a non-alcoholic diner after the first one" should be something like "I've only been to non-alcoholic diners after the first one"
