@justforthelulz it's actually quite common in Japan to kill yourself this way. Kinda sad, but that's the reason you see it in Japanese media a lot.

As for why it's randomly a triple chapter day is cause a) I forgot about Shissou Sengen last week and b)I wanted to get the volume done

That smirk in the end notes (which I overlooked while reading) makes me think the only reason why he caught her was because that stranger woman said "it looks like a suicide", so he didn't really care about our lead, he only wanted to look good for the extra. (Who, as noted, seems a bit simple herself - at least when it comes to how to actually handle suiciders.)
