Recently the mangas I've been reading all become the ground of snipewars. Perfectly good quality translations made by established groups that you know you can count on to finish a project get sniped by newbies who use machine translation or who just took up japanese/korean as a new language and even advertise in the notes that they don't know what the f are they doing. And then the newbie gets sniped by another newbie and so on, while the quality drops drastically. It's so frustrating! Is there not enough untranslated material they can get started on?

I think the problem is this, noob snipers don't know where to start so they look to already in progress translating projects being done by other groups instead of stuff nobody has touched before.

I guess it depends, some people are assholes that just snipe to mess with groups and readers alike. Some thinkn they are doing good for the readers and may even apologize for their low skills, some don't care at all and some just want to know what happens next because the other groups take too long to make good quality scans.

Highkey would rather wait fortge scan group I prefer reading from over the others that just wanna shell out chapters really quick but have choppy grammar and weird words in their translations.
Not to mention groups just have their specialties - or are the only ones doing certain series. I can't even count how many manga I'm reading right now that Asura is the only one putting out, but some that say, FLAME or another group is translate-warring with them on? I'm more likely to read theirs over Asura's because it feels like they do it better - rather, it just makes more sense to me reading theirs.

@Stupid_Goo if they can do a better or equally good job faster because the original translator has too many things on their plate I am okay with the change. But even then, sniping from a good translator means they might get fed up and drop all their series. It doesn't take much to be polite and say "Hey, I see you have a lot of series going on, let me take this one off your hand." instead of releasing their version without a word while the original group is still working on it.
@Richman Same goes for the newbies, they could offer/ask their help and say "Hi, I translated this chapter but I'm still new and bad, please check it for me". People are just assholes.
