Shoujo Junrei - Vol. 3 Ch. 22 - Dear Friends

The order of operations was a little bit wonky on this self-realization. Aiko realized that she cared enough to race home, but still doesn't like her, but then she still cares once she sees Mao injured. Would it have made more sense if she came across it by chance and then realized she cared rather than having the same realization twice? I dunno.

Even though the editor is right, it seems like he's making a pretty big assumption with only Mao's unconscious mutterings to go by.

All that being said, I'm always impressed when I see someone using hand drawn backgrounds. Sometimes its obvious when they're using 3d models, and sometimes you can't tell, but it's especially obvious on the final panel that it was hand drawn. Interesting because a number of the city backgrounds seem to be digitally rotoscoped photos.

The editor's a creep. He's right, sort of, but he's a pathetic bitch who can only feel good about himself by despising everybody. He's not giving her a bit of tough love to give her a realization so she can move forward, he's trying to bring her down so she'll have a crappy life feeling pathetic and so will Shion (except in Shion's case, under his thumb). It's not like he's got any good intentions that would give him any standing to look down on anyone.
I mean, come on, he's confronted with a girl who just risked her life to come to someone's side, and he almost instinctively reaches for whatever buttons he can come up with to make her feel like shit so he can keep his prize pig mangaka isolated and so he can keep the superior sneer on his face. Guy could use a good curbstomping.

damn the editors dialogue is unnatural and melodramatic
she got what she deserved though

Oof, Aiko deserved that.
Even as she's running to check on Mao, her thoughts are still "I hope she's okay, but I don't want to be friends with her."
Of course Mao s heartbroken.

@picks
she still makes money and editors need mangakas to survive

he doesnt have much of a basis to call her useless, if any, regardless of if she's bad at everything except manga

Also he's an ass (but that's less relevant than his arguments being weak) and inventing that useless "goddess persona" isnt really considered praiseworthy

This might be too much to ask but,can somebody kill that maderfucker editor of her, truck kun where are you???,he is a toxic person and not good for her.though this might be the wake up call we've been waiting, for our poor mc to realise things and starting to decide to pull her fucking shit together, like you know ASAP!

Thank you soooooo much for this translation!❤

Bruhh you're not a useless bum if you can draw a manga and make a living from it,
Even those people who only knows how to breathe are still useful in mother nature you know.

Y'know, there was enough tension between Mao and Aiko to keep the story rolling; we didn't need the Evil Editor to artificially ramp things up. What an annoying character.
