You can see the yurifacation taking root with each passing chapter a lot better than in the unserialized version.
But I did prefer when it was more short gags based on the protagonist/rival trope being heel-turned because the rival is heavy yuri.

The premise needed to evolve. It did. I'm very happy.

It still gets to do its oops-evil-bully-rival-actually-LOVES-you joke, but having the "plain" girl repeatedly pining for the handsome boy for page after page would have been increasingly grating. Still the same story, but this is a much better "camera placement," if you will.

The flow towards romance is definitely planned out better so far in this version than the previous one. You can see the sparks igniting a lot better and Hiyama has less overt "bully but not actually" moments that make her much more appealing as a romance option.
