Common trope in Japanese manga for some reason, idk what kind of MMOs those guys play, but every single one Ive played has the Healer as the center piece of each group in mid/late game

@Laundrysauce : Do not apply MMO "locic" to manga or novels, the do not translate well since MMO' need to aetificially "balance" the classes so people do otnget bored.

But the healer likely takes after, or is derived from, white mages in games like Final Fantasy, and much more likely Dragon Quest, plus decades of fantasy media since it has been more prevelant there for a long time.

You want to understand this, go play the original Final Fantasy with an all white mage party.
