Shounen, Chotto Sabotteko? - Vol. 3 Ch. 24 - Wanna stay out of the rain?

@monkey123
It doesn't matter if the group isn't new, it's the fact that this is this person's first upload. And the group itself doesn't seem to have been active for the past 8 months either from what I can see on the Group page.

That's a good lad, Shounen.

It was a very good TL, I’m just used to the other group using “shounen” instead of “kiddo”. Good work

If what i see in manga is half true, it really amazes me how much rules schools have even for when you arent in school grounds. Like "who are you, my mom?"

@BoshJaker - Yup. Shounen can have an "ara ara" tone added to it. Kiddo has no such cultural connection - its mostly demeaning and hardly ever endearing and manly used by older men speaking to young boys.

Shes specifically calling him boy - not the gender neutral kiddo - highlighting his GENDER/SEX while being suggestive and flirty on a number of occasions. This series is also a SPIN-OFF from a series of H-magas where these 2 chacters ( when shonen is older ) engage in sexual relations.

Should Onee-san be doing this? Is she moral? no. Yet, subtle changes like "kiddo" completely change what she is saying culturally when moved to an english speaking nation. While "shounen" isn't a translation and requires you to have cultural knowledge of the words many meanings and subtext, its better to leave it alone if your going to strip away all of the subtext of shounen and insert completely unrelated subtext.

Also this is a snipe, 3 days since previous chapter was released so the other group is probably working on it.

@Spoonilkle Btw, this series and the H series are not connected in any way. Their names are different, and the boy is older than the girl in the H series. Not to mention their personalities are completely different. The character designs are nearly identical, but that’s it.

I usually don’t have an opinion on “sniping,” but I’m glad this is getting translated by another group, as long as they continue to translate it. I am grateful for the previous group’s translations, but I’m not really a fan because they keep words untranslated for whatever reason.
