I think it even had a chapter lampshading this fact, where a gang leader character was like "don't you think that people are too wussy these days!?" and another gang member was like "yeah! some boys' manga even have girls as the main characters!"

It ran from 1980-1984. Super popular in Weekly Shounen Jump back in the day. Also, it inspired the design of the poop emoji.

I love it, it's silly and great.

Published 1999 to 2002 in Dengeki Daioh, and set the trend for school girl manga series! Also, containing classic scenes like Osaka knife, Chiyo pigtails dream, Yukari's driving, "Get motivated!", "combined our score is 102!", every scene with Chiyo's dad in it ("HELLO EVERYNYAN"), Yamapikarya, chinsuko, ukoncha, sata andagi , and so on...

Railgun is great, I love Railgun. Uiharu is lowkey one of the most OP people in Academy City tbh (Jailbreaker Arc).

Fun fact: The mangaka for Railgun is the one who drew the R18 Yotsuba&! doujinshi series called "Pretty Neighbour". (Mainly Koiwai x Fuuka stuff.)

Very enjoyable slice of life series. When I first tried to read it, it seemed a bit boring, but on my second try, I really got into it. It has a pretty fun cast of characters. There's cheerful bundle of joy 4-chan mascot Yotsuba, Good Dad Koiwai, neighbour Fuuka, environmentally conscious Ena, cool boyish Miura, playful Asagi, Jumbo-sized Jumbo, and more! Also, the background art is really good.
