@Chizan Absolutely. At least, the chapter describes that too on page 8. Anyone who didn't support him would want to keep him alive because it would give leverage against the people who did support him. By showing the connections and proof, keeping him alive would allow groups to bring the opposing group down, at least a tiny bit. It's pretty common throughout history and I'm almost surprised there wasn't an modern day meme involved somewhere on this. Goldead didn't kill himself, after all.
