Considering how the FMC has acted in the past, going far out of her way to help the 3rd wheel resolve the situation with his ex-teammates (a situation that had no impact on the manga other than unecessarily eating up chapters), I wouldn't have been surprised if she had sacrificed her own feelings and offered to help the "ex-girlfriend" get together with the MC. That would have been a far more interesting side-track than wasting those chapters on the baseball jerk.

The ex is one of those people whose thinking I just don't get and instinctively dislike, and yet when I think about it objectively I can't say there's anything actually wrong with being that way. Different strokes.

@Purplelibraryguy It's a big problem and super shallow. Hoes mad. She's most likely being dumped left and right then will bitch about not finding a decent partner. She grew a seed in the FMC out of jealousy.
