I think it was mentioned in past chapters, but I'm surprised by the international stance of this manga. It's broader than I expected.
Japan Number One (as in so many mangas)? Nope, the Japanase branch of the UW are corrupt and doing shady things behind everyone's backs. It's up to America to save the day... But wait! The American branch has far more sinister goals in mind. So where to go to escape their clutches? China. Male genocide or not, geopolitical rivalries are geopolitical rivalries. But if you want technology that is able to match America's, you need to go to Europe. Interesting.

I know it was a long time ago but I think most people forgot that the mc and elisa had a fight right before he got frozen, he stupidly didn’t want to push her to wait for him to get unfrozen and she didn’t take to well to that idea so her reaction makes sense.

@Gotim18 Thanks for the reminder. I went back to check it out, it's all in chapter 1. They do fight because he doesn't want to be a selfish and controlling jerk while she does want him to be (but in a good way :eyeroll). In the end, though, they make up on the day of the freezing. He gives her his necklace and asks for her to return it to him when he wakes up. She pledges that she'll wait forever if need be.
More likely it's a simple case of drifting apart. A lot has happened since he went to sleep. Previously, they had spent more than 10 years together; there was nothing one had experienced that the other hadn't shared or didn't know about. Now the world has been through a near-apocalypse and Erisa has been at the center of political upheaval and grand schemes. All while Reito was sleeping.
I've seen it played out in real-life countless times. A couple lives apart for 2, 3, or 4 years due to work or school then when they get back together they suddenly have nothing in common anymore. They've grown apart. In this case, it's just even more sad because the growth has been one-sided. Reito never even had a chance.

What the fuck, how the hell is it safe?
They can blow that shitty little port town sky high or drop off a black ops unit to assassinate anyone they want, there are so many ways to kill people in an area without UW influence, and they've clearly placed their goals above any moral standard at this point, this is supposed to take place in the fucking future!
A religion that isn't unified? That's crazy talk man!
Also, I prefer the sexy half of monolith, they know how to have a good time at the expense of others.
