I don't know why people are so focused on Ibelina because whatever will happen her "love" will make her stay by his side and if you think about it's sad.
 
Ibelina must miss read him on purpose. She basically said she could have gone for him as a nobel woman.
I guess she's cut herself out of the loop due to her status (thinking it will never be accepted and thus will never work). And also his age can make him change his feelings, and she also thinks he's destined for the org FL.
If she's honestly that clueless then I don't know what to think
 
She knows he likes her hence the line about her not being a noble. Obviously shes dancing around the issue because it would cause him trouble in their society. If a child asked you to marry them wouldnt you do the same. Its basically the exact same scenario with the added caveat that she is older than her body and has to abide by noble/feudal standards.
 
Honestly, reading so many people calling her "clueless" is really starting set me off. She's not clueless, she doesn't see being with him as an option, so she doesn't even entertain it as an idea.

She acknowledges his affections towards her, to a degree, but doesn't treat them as realistic because he is still a child in her eyes with a child-like attachment to the first person who gave him the time of day. There's a big difference betwixt being clueless and not taking someone's feelings seriously.
 
@lilylah yup, I made the exact same point few pages ago. Unfortunately, some ppl can only ever see romance or are so desperate for it that they ignore any and all context of the story and literally demand romance on the spot without question :/

as a side note, isn't he a 13 year old kid and she's a grown woman? like wat? putting aside all the points of her maternal instincts from raising the kid as a mother, this being not her story and all that... how do u even want romance at these ages right now? -_-
 
@lilylah As someone who has watched him grow up and knows him better than anyone, shouldn't she at least acknowledge that he likes her? I think that isn't the case, instead, I think she is aware of it, BUT she consciously decided to ignore his advances.

If she didn't realise it already, she would be incredibly dumb. Think about it. She constantly studied his behaviour and consistently analysed it from an onlooker's point of view, waiting to see what pushed him towards the downwards spiral that was the ending of the novel. As someone who always examines him, she knows him best. Yet she called him childish without further analysis. That could make her a daft researcher.

But I don't think she's that naive. In this chapter she considered being Alejandro's partner but decided she's not suitable. She just took the thought quickly without the slightest hint of alarm, which probably means it crossed her mind before. As a good researcher, she realised it, but as a jerk she still led him on anyways.

She never ever uses tact with Alejandro. I don't get why she couldn't burst his bubble earlier to avoid further complications. I think she's just not very nice. Or maybe she's dumb in the end for not doing anything about it.
 
I don't know why people think she doesn't know he likes her. It's pretty obvious she does. She just doesn't read it as serious love. She's written herself off for him because 1. She's a maid and he's a duke 2. He's still young and might change his mind once he meets more girls 3. She still subconsciously thinks of him as a novel character, so there's a high chance he'll fall for the heroine.

Basically, Al needs to reject the heroine and grow up a bit more. When those two obstacles are gone I think she'll finally come to the realization of "Oh crap he's serious"

That was basically a confession, but Ibel isn't gonna catch it at all. There were way less subtle signs before this that went over her head.

Now that they mention it, does the fact that the Duke died mean the only people who know the truth behind Alejandro's curse are the king and Ibel?
 
If she already knows his feelings then why doesn't she reject him properly instead of holding in all these feelings about being a maid or the other girl coming at least, then we could watch him try to court her seriously until she realizes he's staying with her

Alejandro should actually now be able to marry her. He's the duke now, so he has the authority to decide it for himself. He's the new master of the ducal household. Normally the king might object seeing how Alejandro is of the royal bloodline, but with Alejandro bearing the burden of the curse that should have befallen the royal family, I reckon the king would keep his mouth mostly shut in return. Of course many other nobles would disapprove, but would Alejandro give a single shit about that? All those other nobles considered him already dead and gone when he was sick, so why would he care about their opinions now?
 
if this was a BL Diego's interactions with Alejandro would be seen differently 👀
