The whole volume chapter set-up confuses me because it sometimes looks like there are duplicates if you aren't paying attention. :]

Well, that set up is generally how volumes would actually work. Chapter numbering ignoring the transition to different volumes is more of a thing with sites like this than the original materials. It'd be like if I ignored the fact that the contents of novels on my bookshelf are in separate books and just counted all the chapters as if they were part of one much larger book. Paying attention is generally a good idea anyway.

What there is:
- a fantasy world
- different characters (a whole lot)
- everyone driven by the plot
Worth your time? probably not.

Anyway, if you don't care for the characters much from the start, nothing will change and there's no point reading further. The story and the plot twists aren't really interesting, fighting scenes are just fine, drama doesn't feel real enough. No romance. Just fine to kill time is how it felt to me.
