Incidentally, there are moms like that. One of my daughters had an ex-boyfriend whose mother kicked him out of the house for good at 15 because he did some damn thing that was barely even go-to-your-room worthy. And when he brought my daughter over to meet her (they were already living together at the time), the woman just basically didn't acknowledge her presence, talked past her like she wasn't there. Didn't even seem like she was mad, she was just this weird cold woman. (He ended up kinda screwed up himself so I'm glad he's an ex-boyfriend. Her husband's way better)
