I think the "Vanished Empire" would have worked too, Alt would have been "The Lost Empire" as I think it's implied that it didn't just fall it just up and disappeared/vanished.

Lost Empire sounds really natural, but too generic. Fallen Empire is pretty decent, while Vanished Empire seems too pompous. I think Fallen Empire is perfect.
