@disguised22 ah it was just a feeling haha, I just thought it would be plausible that he gets severely injured instead and returns as an antagonist in future chapters because a lot of the plot involving Bai Li Ji and his clan hasn’t been explored yet. But you may be right too, maybe he does get killed off and the story progresses further because of his death. We’ll have to wait and see!

The emperor, I think, got a tad bonkers coz he saw how 'almighty' those daoists were (or rather, how powerfull) and got into his head that he wants THAT too. And then proceeded to waste away.
