Fun fact: The main characters are hunting all wrong.
The way of hunting humans are most proficient at is long distance tracking. What we used to do is attack and chase our prey over long distances because most animals overheat faster than we do. The two most important reasons for this are: 1. We can sweat which allows to to cool off much more efficiently than other animals. 2. Our hip (forgot the exact name) structure that we use to walk up straight allows us to walk much more efficiently than other animals with very few exceptions. So by chasing other animals around we can tire them to near death and then finish them off easily.
I really hope they figure this out soon because I am looking forward to reading that chapter.

@mmerjin they really have no choice so the correction was kind of useless, but and intresting "The More You Know". They can't risk straying too far as they are well aware that encountering other animals or even humans would mean sure death. Not to mention having to track their way back to their camp, that's too much for people who have just gotten over the realization that no one is coming for them and that they're stuck here with their only hope is to survive.

Aren't boars the creature known as the animal you don't want to hit with spears? (Modern ones, which, undoubtedly, have weaker and thinner hide than greater ancient boars)
