Stronger, faster and more resistent but by no means smarter.
They did not live in society or communitys, tribes are examples, they lived with few of their kind and compete with themselves, in the end they were killed or assimilated in the enemys tribes, because they outnumbered them.
This manga go out of reality as to make thr neandertals cooperate, wich was the one of the motives they were being overhelmed, they lack the sence of communiity that other humans had.
That's it...

Edit: they did not craft weapons, swords, lances and bow.
And they needed a lot of food to nuture their bodys, another reason they went extinct
