It was said that some members of Merchant Guild may pass and they even tried it at start- other options were Black Market, Thieves Guild and probably Military. So probably for people with pass it something like move at own risk? Also there is probably few settlements outside of the City and that were this guy comes from.

@Fari Well, most people don't even know how long elves live, especially since elves are practically extinct. I wouldn't put it past them to assume that Friren lived a human lifespan. @Mapax Also, it is entirely possible that people name their kids after heroes. How many Muhammads, Jesúses, Abraham's do we have nowadays?

@jackslate he might be the one that commission them with the reward Frieren mentioned, so it's logical that he stays there and observe the process to make sure the road is properly fixed.

@jackslate this kind of thinking exemplifies a choosing beggar. The guy should be grateful that he could pass at all, and he evidently didn't have to wait very long for them to clear the road. The MCs are also travelling with the merchant, so there's no point in having him go ahead without them.

Himmel is still growing on me as a character and he was alive for only like two chapters

I like that contrast between the beginning of the chapter ("Straight out of a fairy tale", "I'm the only home who remembers her face") and the end of the chapter ("We definitely existed"), between how Flamme and the hero party are remembered. Wonder if it sparks something in Frieren.
