Sousou no Frieren - Vol. 3 Ch. 20 - Master's Technique

Finally two demons down, one to go.
Now lets see if someone on the comments know that german words.

@zanonyn
Well, they are predators. They literally stated that the only reason they even bothered talking with humans is to make it easier to feed. The flashback chapter with the Hero party a while ago made it clear they have no concept of family, so words like "Mother" are just a tool for survival. They are quite literally alien in every sense but the physical.

So really good reasoning. 😊

"erfassen" is best translated as "to grasp"
"Bluterei" is no actual german word, just as how neither "bleedery" or "bloodery" are english words. Which is kind of sad since most of the other words used were proper german words.
edit: obviously, I misread. It actually says "Bluterie", which sounds even weirder to me. And yes, I'm a native speaker.

Um, Bluterei is a reasonably "proper" German word, similar to Leserei or Rennerei or whatever. It basically means "bleed annoyingly/chaotically/without forethought". Which makes some sense in the context of what he's doing I'd say.

e: also if the demons were truly completely like predatory animals they wouldn't go around taunting people and talking bullshit. This is basically the stupid "bad guys stop to talk so the heroes can defeat them" trope utilized in a particular bad fashion.
Crap chapter, in my opinion.

@Fim Perhaps she wasn't confident that she could kill him and wanted reinforcements?
Stark is strong enough to kill a dragon in one swing and tough enough to shrug off an axe blow.
Maybe she felt that and thought that rather than risk going in for the kill she could just get him out of the way and leave dealing with him for someone else.

@Fim: Though as a native german speaker (as I believe you are too), I (for my part) can ensure you, I catch on to the suggested meaning "bloody mess" instantaneously. It's fine. ("bloody mess", like in "Ohmygod,mynosebloodingisn'tstopping.whatthef*ck?andnowthewholeflooriscoveredinit.*yuck*deargod,whyamIstillalive?howisthatevenpossible?" That kind of meaning.)

Last man ( or dwarf ) standing wins ... someone had a good ( yet sadistic ) Master ;)

Also, a certain demon, in spite of all his experience, never considered the possibility of him being distracted. Arrogant to the end :p

These demons being too human-like, but completely monsters inside, is so unique. They are never portrayed as completely monsters with humanoid bodies, they are almost always depicted as a different species with different desires and goals (even the most stale manga depict them as 'evil beings' or 'beings of a different species with only emotions of anger and superiorty'), but never regular (but intelligent) monsters who only live to eat and breed.

@Pyoro
Well, they are predators, but not animals. I feel like this has been properly explained by now. They have no interest in humans beyond food, and they are so arrogant they don't even consider someone a threat unless they are on the 'demon massacre' level. Like Frieren.

Of course, it's completely fine if that explanation is not enough for you, but it was explained. They act precisely as the worldbuilding dictates they should.

Wait wait wait, that last magic attack did NOT have a german name?

@Pyoro
cor3zone predators are risk adverse, a tiger won't attack you if it thinks you may fight back. I took it as them being scared and posturing to try and disengage.
Especialy the female one, she had already realised how strong Stark was and wanted to get the hell out of there. She was already backing away but when he got back up she and no choice other than to fight back.
