Spirited Away by the Rain Woman Youkai - Ch. 24

Whew, thought he was gonna cry
"Mommy's not here, she threw me away"
kind of thing

I braced myself as I read this chapter, thinking that there would be two abuse subtexts that would play out:

1) Kotaro thinking that the “seeker” must hit the “hider.” Subtext would be that Kotaro hid from his previous parents whenever they were enraged.

2) Kotaro not understanding why the fist (rock) loses to the raised hand (paper). Subtext would be that Kotaro used to futilely raise his hands to shield himself from his parents’ punches.

I’m glad that this chapter turned out wholesome, and that neither of these subtexts occurred.

I was...10000% there with you. Like this is super fluffy when it's fluffy but then you just round the corner into a brick wall to remind you that it's fluffy now and not always.
