Hm. He had an opportunity to let the Sword Saint kill everyone else and find the traitor. Also, if he became the traitor himself, he would have had an opportunity to get himself killed by the strongest people and gain their skills - including perhaps the lie detection ability. Terrible chapter IMO. Completely invalidates the previous chapter with the Sword Saint apologizing to MC. Now that we know the 5 major guilds are scum and cover for each other, it makes no sense to portray the Sword Saint as being crazed/stubborn for not believing in Paladin and her skill. Paladin absolutely would lie to protect the 5 guilds and has apparently been doing so. Hell, it's even mentioned a skill could bypass Paladin's truth detection. The MC could have such a skill, so why shouldn't Sword Saint trust in his own skill? When everyone else is scum it's really his only choice.
