I mean, I confess I ship Xinghe and Yuning, but if this is the resolution to the conundrum, it's pretty unsatisfying.

I agree. It was common in Chinese history for lords to have multiple wives. Expected, really. It's weird for things to end like this.

Also, isn't she the girl on the cover? They can't leave it at this, she's the cover girl.

Perhaps there will be more developments. I've seen that just two chapters later Xinghe hears that Xueyun is joining the tournament and is already thinking of looking for her, so there's a chance to solve things in a different way. But then, what was the point of having her appear here so suddenly? They could have met at the Imperial Academy and the reaction would be more or less the same.
