I think you're being too judgmental: if MC didn't make his intentions clear from the start, some other guy could take her first while she still thinks of MC as a friend, so MC would probably really regret it

just to confirm, you identify with the female lead as a heterosexual/bisexual female, right? Your comment 'To be fair,' implies that, but your username & profile image gives me a different impression, so I can't decipher whether you want us to think of you as a heterosexual/bisexual girl, or whether you want us to think of you a homosexual female/male, or something else.
I'll reply by assuming you want us to think of you as a heterosexual female because otherwise: there is no point in this discussion and your 'to be fair...' comment would be irrelevant to this manga:

Your mentality makes me think you'll reject some high level guys, and thereby really limit your romantic options. : because men literally have to be go against their instincts to pursue you. Looks aren't just about straight up beauty, but general surface impression, so if a guy hasn't decided they like you based on your looks , they're probably instinctually not really impressed by you and wouldn't even bother being friends with you.
Therefore, if a guy pursues you, I strongly advise you to either start of as friends or date casually to really get to know each other before you decide if the 'like' can be 'love'
If you don't heed my advice, I wish you happiness in being single, or happiness with another girl.
