I'm on my re-read to have the manga fresh in my heart(?) for the ending when it comes.

I didn't realize that Kidoguchi implies that he already knows who she's talking about. I feel stupid, even the translators made an effort to get the nuance through:

"Well, I don't know who your crush is. But whoever they are... They are having a positive influence on you"

Shimizu gets that and stops trying to hide that her crush is a girl... Until the last phrase because my bb shy.

"And when it finally happens for her, I want to be right there"

You already know she cares about you, balls in your court. And yeah, I have an ex who is now one of my closest friends years later and having someone like that in your corner to talk to is super clutch, I mean you can say anything you want to them with no judgement. The conversation between Shimizu and Kidoguchi is probably the highlight of the entire story thus far, its pretty relatable to me.
