@justforthelulz: Whereas I'd wanted to say it was an under-the-censor allegory for being gay (this being China). But I do think I'm projecting: I think it just hits nicely on universal themes for states of being (usually social/psychological) that are unfairly responded to, negatively, by one's self and (if you're unlucky) those around oneself.

It sure as hell feels allegorical for something, though.
