Sunroom Nite

ahhh someone finally releasing some new Takemiya!! she has sooo much that needs scanlating, thanks for this! ❤️

You can definitely see some ideas that would later be fleshed out in her other works (closed, narrow space where a group of friends spend time together and which becomes more and more deserted as one after another they face adolescence and leave - the sunroom from, well, In The Sunroom, or the dormitory from The Door Into Summer?). Kind of interesting how she reused the main character for KazeKi. The art and storytelling aren't the best yet but they're already really good, though I got a bit confused about the ending (as in, I spend way too much time figuring out who's holding the knife now and in what pose are they standing). Oh, and confused about symbolism in other parts, but that's Takemiya being Takemiya.

Thank you so much, Golden Roze, for translating this story! Looking forward to those other classic shoujo oneshots you mentioned.

I realize that her contributions to the genre are historically important but the last time I tried to read one I just couldn't make it very far through the swamp of condensed angst and melodrama.

I see glancing at the end of this one that it is in the same vein.

Did she ever write any shounen-ai that wasn't terribly tragic, I wonder? I realize that to some extent it may be a matter of self-protection; that it's vaguely "art" if you write something that's "sinful" but "tragic".
