Syrup Shakaijin Yuri Anthology - Vol. 1 Ch. 2 - Daily Smile by Kodama Naoko

I feel like this is the first time I've seen Kodama Naoko and it not be something completely degenerate.

Oh hey a wholesome Kodama Naoko story, that's rare. Most of her works aren't my cup of tea, but I enjoyed this. Thanks for translating!

@redsea I'd say this is my second time, her short story "I Decided to Fake a Marriage with My Junior to Shut My Parents Up" ends up pretty wholesome by the end in my opinion.

@Xaelath Eh even if this wasn't anything groundbreaking, it was wholesomely enjoyable. I keep running into a lot of depressing stories and I genuinely need more things like this right now.

Well, who knows. Maybe the manager is already married. I believe in Kodama Naoko-sama ❤️

Pretty wholesome and straightforward, considering the author. I enjoyed it! But agreed— the “fake relationship with my junior” one from Kodama-san is definitely a good one.

@pants

No. She just strung her along for months, taking advantage of her love by encouraging her to buy ever more expensive bentos. Because of this, her store was noted for its high sales and she was given a shiny plastic plaque declaring her Store Manager of the Month, and her picture is still hanging on the wall at regional HQ in recognition of her outstanding managerial skill.

@HauntedPizza
Something wholesome is uncommon in Yuri considering the Drama it has tend to be different from a straight Romcom wholesome.
(This came from someone who have read like hundreds of Doujins, VN and LN combined)

Hey, I heard Yuri Hentai/Doujins have lots of wholesome moment instead of Manga

@Xaelath That's an interesting perspective that you have, but I personally don't share it. As someone who has also been through hundreds of said content, I've read and enjoyed plenty of wholesome Yuri content in Manga, Doujins, VN, LN. As well as H-Doujins. There are Yuri that are very dramatic, but in general it's my go to genre for wholesome stories. It's of course fine if you disagree with me, but we'll just have to agree to disagree as I also have my own years of experience, including reading likely over a thousand Yuri 1-shots. I also have an extremely good memory when it comes to my hobbies, I'll likely even remember this 1-shot in 10 years & beyond, so I am confident in my stance. Anyhow, have a nice day & stay safe during these troubled times.

@HauntedPizza
I don't disagree,
It's just wholesome moments tends to be overlooked with Drama.
Wholesome moments is more common in oneshots, slice of life/comedy genre, else the story tend to be swarmed by Drama.
(Reminds me that my most wholesome story would be from Shuuden ni Kaeshimasu oneshots but is still so sad and drama filled on some moments)

The never ending drama should be perfectly nail Yuri Genre in nutshell.

Action stuff is even more rare I guess...

Well again in my experience I believe that there's more wholesome and fluffy Yuri than there is Yuri focused on drama. The romance genre is already essentially a branch of slice of life, romance is usually daily life of the characters as they grow closer together, either as they're already going out, or they're building up to going out. Plus even some of the series with some drama are still wholesome, as mild drama is part of relationships and the natural course of things. Even friendships.

Kodama Naoko-sensei, hm?
Really cute and wholesome.

Now back to the story where all characters are a piece of shit degenerates manipulatives bastards, the usual good stuff.
Jk, she does have some prety cute stories, but even then, there’s always some drama or difficult situations. Seeing a light story like this is kinda refreshing.

Yet again proof that, when not doing utterly melodramatic angsty shit, Kodama Naoko can actually do ridiculously wholesome fluffy yuri.
