Part of it's cultural difference, and also there are some people that don't mind or even expect a degree of possessiveness.
Granted both parties should be comfortable with it, and it's fine if you wouldn't want your boyfriend doing that. But by calling it insecure you're already passing judgement - he could want to do that sort of thing even if he totally trusted her. The couple gets the appeal of an aggressive romantic gesture but avoids any of the drama or awkwardness of having a confrontation over it.
Not getting angry at her or pouty but instead making some private display of affection is probably the best thing you could do in that situation aside from being totally hands off. Even personally as someone who's entirely hands off I don't expect everyone to not get jealous; it's an almost primal impulse. If there's a positive, non-confrontational way they can channel that I think it's cool.

@IHavoc I don't think it was private at all since he did grab her mid-song and drag her out of the room with all of them staring. And the other guy only talked to her for a few minutes before the bf gave into jealousy completely, that seems pretty insecure to me lmao
If they enjoy possessiveness they need to have a long discussion in a private setting about their limits, and not pull awkward stunts in a party/mixer. But hey, I'm only going off of what the chapter is showing us as a oneshot, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
