I think the biggest problem with the genderbender genre is that it's really hard to make a good series that lasts without doing the whole multi-romance thing, it's almost always either annoying multi-romance, short, or it burns out and turns into a crap story
**not counting ecchi series that feature occasional genderbender mechanic(s) for comedic effect (like To Love Ru) as actual genderbender genre series since it's not one of the core points driving the story along
