I have to agree with you in that. After all the serialization has to keep a uniformity that the webcomic lacks... And it is pretty obvious that some of the chapters are posted just as the draft is finished.

But what a damn shame. It's a cool idea nonetheless

Another theory is that maybe they already had that drawing completely finished in B&W and author decided to just paste it in there like that.
