tag request - Promo

ok, I've mentioned this is some threads but decided to make it formal. Can we get a promo tag? I didn't see a mention in the features post.

I like oneshots, you can be told a quick story, maybe even have it raise a question or an interesting thought and then it's done, leaves the rest to you. However lately it seems like I've been seeing a lot of promo's added sometimes 1-3 chapters. I'm not interested in reading a promo that isn't even being translated at the point the promo is released. To me it steals time away from me that could be spent reading other mangas or just doing other stuff. I don't mind that they post them here but to me it is misleading the way some are labeled.

It would also help with searches. If you do a oneshot tag search you could add exclude promo and get what you are looking for.

I know some groups do mark it in the chapter title or in the description but not all. My understanding is that tags can be added by others. I get that you don't want too many tags, but to me this is a unique tag that isn't covered by something else. Just read another one today, marked as oneshot completed, nope it's not it's chapter 1 of an otherwise untranslated story.

@schlo are you trying to read Korean oneshots or Japanese oneshots when you look up oneshots?
oneshot + longstrip pretty much hits every promo series, excluding longstrip would exclude all the promo series leaving just the jp stuff basically

@Plykiya i usually just select the oneshot as a tag, sorted by last updated and then look. I couldn't tell you what the country of origin is for the ones I read, tell me a good story and I'm happy so I don't really care or focus on the country of origin. If I jump to the middle of the list, older stuff I usually have good luck. With more recent last updated, basically new stuff I see a lot more promo's. I see the same thing when I pick from the Titles page, sorted by last updated. Seems like recently I'm seeing a lot more oneshots that are promos. Not a majority, but enough to be irritating. Using the Titles page / last updated I've seen at least two this week. I couldn't tell you the names or stories, one was a romance, when its not a finished story and I'm not likely to see the rest I have a tendency to forget it.

There was a fantasy one with female main not to long ago, that was long, read it get to the end no ending, basically it was one chapter, I believe at the end they pushed the novel, not sure. It's not always oneshots, there was a three (?) chapter one where the first chapter was great, noble lady arrested, tossed in jail but she had stocked the jail and had all sorts of visitors. First chapter was great, next two chapters read like it got the axe and was rushed. Then I saw that it was a promo.

You hit actual oneshots doing that, and I'm pretty sure there are a few Korean promos in single page format :) The 3 chapters one @schlo is talking about is Japanese, too (I've seen a few, though they tend to be a few chapters long compared to Korean ones). When my group does a promo, we always make it clear in the chapter title and the description, but I'm sure people would appreciate an actual tag for these, be it to filter or find them.

@Asasa I appreciate that you label yours, unfortunately all groups don't or don't consistently. There was a group this week that did, some labeled some not, of course I got the one that wasn't labeled promo which is how I discovered that they dumped the promos. I think they were dropping their website and figure here was a good landing place, no problem there.

what is longstrip as far as a tag, lots of pages in one long page? If so I think I've seen them as non-long strip too.

If it can't be fine, I just figure it is unique enough, not truly covered by other tags like some of the sub tags. Also oneshot and longstrip together only returned 118 so I don't think it would filter out that many and filter out a couple of good ones I've read and one sad one about a cats.
