Maybe it's just me, but when the unnamed lady is talking about "from that point on the fog was getting thicker," I really can't understand what point she's talking about. Anyone else have an idea?

In this context she probably meant that the upcoming war will escalate out of control and move from a war of obtaining resources to total annihilation, where both sides won't stop until the opposing country is destroyed. Both kingdoms are developing new weapons, and the MC's influencing the technological development of that world is not helping at all.

That might be the case, if she's talking in a really metaphorical sense. Although it still feels like I missed something.

So maybe it is because he got lost in a literal fog, I didn't realize that she was talking about a non-literal fog... Kazura answers like he knows exactly what she's talking about, and what "that" shadow is supposed to mean, so maybe I was overthinking things and felt more uncertain about what they were talking about than I should have.

Based off what I remember from the web novel the other side has already upgraded from the Bronze era to Iron. In this case, the MC is evening the playing field so the side he is one doesn't get slaughtered.

I think that lady is the spirt of the forest or the world. And she'd she seeing the annihilation of both sides unless something changes. IE the MC interference with technological advancement of the side he's working with.

Yeah, it was pretty vague. It was obvious that it was a part that was cut out from the novel, likely to save pages...probably wasn't too important anyway if it was just a passing comment. I suppose they left it up to interpretation.

The "I will come to pick you up." line is synonymous with death like come on. You might as well keep two coins for the ferryman one to pick you up and another to drop you off.
Jokes aside I love the fog of war being used with lady death telling the MC "Hey I know I shouldn't ask you this, but this time is different can you protect the people in the village? War is coming without a doubt and nobody can stop it, but if you can save all the people you care about as well the village. In exchange when you're time has come I will personally come to pick you up and take you."
If this was me god would I be terrified and just cut the bullshit and get straight to the point. With asking the question "Are you lady death...is it my time to go?"
