Tales of a Charcoal Burner

Unlike many career related manga, this one is straight to the point and could be dull for some; I found it to be very interesting. It's simply about a young man in the (it's been a while--mid?) 20th century who lives a largely solitary life, making charcoal. From what I understand, this skill has dramatically decreased since then. It's a rare glimpse at a bygone era, a fading way of life.

It's very relaxing to read this.

Definitely mood-based enjoyment, however.

That was different!

Not an exciting story, but an interesting autobiographical look at a way of life.

(Autobio for the original author, not the mangaka.)
